Pfeiffer University uses a rolling admissions system but recommends that students submit their applications for admission by May 1 to ensure space availability. The deadline for applications to be reviewed for honors awards is Jan. 8. The application fee is $50.
How to Apply
To begin your undergraduate education at Pfeiffer University, you need to have completed:
- Four units of English
- Three units of math (including Algebra)
- Two units of science (including one lab science)
- Two units of social studies
- Two units of foreign language

- Have your high school counselor send your official high school transcript. (A General Education Development certificate is also acceptable.)

- Athletes must complete and submit all forms required by the Athletic Department. (Some of these forms must be printed out and filled in by your physician; please note which vaccinations are required for our clinic.)
4. Attend Orientation. (New Student Orientation is mandatory for all new students, including transfers and commuters.) Meet faculty, staff, peer mentors and upperclassmen. Get to know your way around campus and make friends so you feel comfortable when you move in.
New students attend two different orientations.
- SOAR (Summer Orientation Advising and Registration) happens in the summer before enrollment. SOAR is a two-day, overnight experience for new students. During SOAR, students go through advising and register for classes.
- Fall Orientation begins just before the start of each semester and allows new students to get acquainted with campus resources and meet new friends.

Welcome Prospective Homeschool Students
We recognize the extraordinary talents and achievements that home-educated students bring to our campus. We know, for example, that home-educated students are excelling academically, outperforming their public school peers by 30 to 37 percentile points across all subjects. We also know that home-educated students are involved in an average of 5.2 extracurricular activities.
Homeschool Admission Requirements:
Because home-educated students often have varied academic experiences, the credentials used in the application decision process are reviewed on an individual basis. After receiving the required documents, we review the student's admission file and provide an admission and scholarship decision based on the information provided. We require the following documents from home-educated students in order to make an admission decision:
- Application for admission
- Essay or writing sample
- One or more letters of recommendation
- Copies of all nationally standardized test results (achievement tests), if applicable
- An outline of all courses taken at the high school level (this may be a transcript) or a portfolio that describes your high school education
- Transcripts for courses taken at any high school or college (if applicable)
- A list of extracurricular activities or a resume (helpful, but not required)
If possible, we prefer to schedule an interview with an admissions counselor to get a better understanding of your educational experience.

Success Tips for Home-Educated Students Who Apply to College
- Take courses offered outside of the home. Usually a junior or senior in high school may take a class or two at a community college or a four-year university.
- Keep an ongoing resume or list of activities. Most colleges appreciate knowing how an applicant spends time outside of the classroom environment. By showing involvement, students can help to disprove the myth that home-educated students are less involved than traditional counterparts.
- Take the SAT and/or ACT during your sophomore, junior and senior year. Typically home-educated students have higher test scores than traditional students.
- Prepare an essay to send along with the college application describing your homeschool experience.
- Prepare a list of textbooks used, including authors and publishers.
- Take the SAT II in addition to the SAT or ACT.
- Visit the colleges that interest you and interview with an admission representative.
Please note that these tips are not necessarily required from home-educated students. However, many colleges look favorably upon these types of actions.
