Rebecca McQueen presented with North Carolina Housing Officers Award

becca mcqueen resizedRebecca McQueen, director of residence life, was presented the Mid-Level Professional Award by the North Carolina Housing Officers at their annual conference in Durham on Oct. 12. This award is designed to recognize an individual with 3 to 7 years professional employment in Housing and Residence Life who displays a commitment to exemplary service to the field.

Rebecca’s accomplishments at Pfeiffer include adopting a “recruitment happens year-round” mentality to improve the level of expectation of the resident assistant position; creating the new FLIGHT (Facilitating Leadership, Involvement and Growth in our Halls Together) program, a six week programming challenge to increase the number and quality of community building and educational programs in the halls; designing a new program called House Calls, an opportunity for faculty and staff to interact with students in residence halls on campus.

According to Dr. Russ Sharples, dean of students, “Rebecca’s commitment to Pfeiffer University is constantly on display throughout the campus community. Because she understands the value of relationships and collaboration on a small campus, Rebecca has built partnerships across campus.”
